Wife of former Senate President, Mrs. Kate Mark, in collaboration with Live Healthy Organization, LHO, a Non Governmental Organization, NGO, at the weekend commenced free medical services for over 1,500 victims of the Agatu crisis camped at the Central Primary School Ugbokpo, Apa Local Government Area of Benue State.
The medical programme availed the Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, treatment for various ailments, while those with serious health conditions were moved to health facilities outside the camp for further attention.
Speaking on the initiative, sponsor of the programme, Mrs. Mark, who decried the condition of the women and children in the camp, said the outreach was her modest contribution to the wellbeing of the IDPs.
She lamented that children in the camp were malnourished due to poor feeding and proper medicare and pleaded with public spirited individuals and organisations to come to their aid.
Mrs. Mark, who said she was moved by the condition of the IDPs to undertake the outreach programme promised to sustain the exercise till the inmates returned to their ancestral homes.
